Our Mission Statement

We believe that the work we do here at Culver Lake Barn & Flea Market serves not only our little community and those surrounding it, but, dare we say it, the world at large.

It is our goal for it to always be a place that …

  • Saves items from the past to keep the future sustainable.
  • Reduces the amount of waste that unnecessarily fills landfills.
  • Preserves pieces of history that would otherwise be discarded.
  • Helps keep the craftsmanship of the past alive and well in the present.
  • Provides a resource for others, who want to contribute to sustainability, to find items that are no longer made.
  • Gives those in the community, who want to simplify their own personal space, a place to take items they no longer want or need.

Everything we do here is designed to meet these goals. And we feel quite blessed that we get to call this part of our life’s work.

We feel privileged to work with all of the people who pass through our little slice of DIY paradise. Most all of them have the same passion that we have for sustainability and preservation.

We know that together we can have a great, positive impact on the world and the people who call her home.

About Lori

I am a wife and a mother of one. My son, Luke, is a U.S. Marine. And I couldn’t be any prouder of the work that he does, and the sacrifices he makes, on a daily basis.

I remember the first time I spied The Barn & Flea Market. I knew in that moment that I would one day call this space my own. And each moment since, I have known that it is where I belong.

Danielle and I originally planned to use this space exclusively for upcycled creations. That is still a big part of what we do here. A part that is very therapeutic for both of us.

It is a really great feeling when someone loves something you’ve created enough to take it home and call it their own.

But, The Barn had some plans of her own. And before we knew it they began to take shape. Antiques, vintage merchandise, and salvaged goods quickly became a big part of what we do as well.

My favorite part of the work we do here is the relationships that are built with the people who pass through these walls.

About Danielle

When I’m not at The Barn & Flea Market, I like to spend time with my family. I go antiquing and browsing garage sales whenever I can.

I love that we have a venue on the grounds for flea market sellers. It’s so much fun to browse their ever-changing merchandise.

I also have a passion for gardening. And I really enjoy a day spent out communing with nature on a nice long hike.

At heart, I am an artist. I never tire of finding and saving treasures.

Particularly when I can upcycle them into something unique and creative.

The Barn with her hand hewn beams, and old wavy glass, is the perfect backdrop for displaying those creations.

I enjoy staging all of the handcrafts and finderys that we house here in her walls. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

The work we do here allows us to meet so many great people. I like being a part of their journey. And it’s always fun to see what they find interesting enough to take home with them.

Best ~ Danielle
